Macho Man College Football Playoff Rankings
Oh yeah, here we are, the first college football playoff poll is coming out this week and you can already see the analysts going nuts on who is in and who is out. What everyone has to remember is that this is snapshot in time, and if the committee were forced to pick the teams today, their poll for that week is what the results would be. There is SO MUCH football to be played. November is the toughest month of the schedule, and then you have conference championships and rivalry games to deal with. So, since everyone is allowed to state their opinion, then I will too. Here are the Macho Man college football playoff rankings!
Now, there is one thing I do a little different. I don’t rank them 1-25. I actually break the teams into three groups, the teams that are in the playoffs right now, the teams that could be in but are looking in from the outside, and the teams who could make it into the playoffs but need A LOT of help.
The MMR top 4 teams
Baylor
LSU
Clemson
Ohio State
I can already here the pundits…Ohio State is the reigning national champs, Baylor lost their starting QB. So what?! Baylor is a great team and nobody has beaten them yet. LSU has a waving windsock puppet that you see in car sales lots for a QB, but they are still at the top of the SEC. Look, these teams will all have to play other teams further down in the polls. This will work itself out, but based on their wins, this is who would be in right now.
The first teams out
TCU
Michigan State
Memphis
This is hard because these three teams are all undefeated, they all have quality wins, and they easily have a right to get in the playoffs. TCU could easily be in but they have played teams a little too close at the beginning of the season. Same can also be said for Ohio State, so thus the reason they are all clustered together. Michigan State needs to admit they got crazy lucky to win the Michigan game, they should have a loss, but they don’t and they’re here. Memphis is the dark horse’s dark horse. They are undefeated, they have beaten Ole Miss, who beat Alabama, and they are still undefeated. Memphis has to play Houston. TCU and Baylor play in a few weeks and the Big 10 championship game will clear this up as well.
The hopefuls
Iowa
Alabama
Stanford
Florida
Michigan
Notre Dame
Oklahoma State
Utah
There are some very good teams in this group, some even undefeated. Iowa and Oklahoma State are going to find out in a few weeks if their dream season is really true. Amongst the one-loss teams, Florida , Stanford, Alabama and Notre Dame have a right in each of their cases to stake a claim in the playoffs. All fours of these one loss teams have lost to very good teams along the way. Utah is the last team into this group, the loss to USC is a bitter pill to swallow, but if some crazy things happen in November, they could easily be in the mix of the conversation.
So there you go, the Macho Man’s playoff hopefuls. And don’t think crazy things haven’t happened…Ohio State was #16 in the initial CFP poll last year.
